Carrier Requirements
At Target we value the relationship with each of our carriers as a valuable part of our transportation process. We know that our success is largely attributed to the quality carriers that contract with us. In order to be set up as a carrier with Target all carriers must be able to meet the following criteria:
- Must have valid insurance coverage with reefer breakdown exclusions (if applicable) and a minimum cargo insurance coverage of $100,000 $1,000,000 liability insurance, exclusions must be listed
- Must have proper and current operating authority
- Signed Broker Carrier Contract
- Must have cell/GPS or satellite tracking
- 6 months+ verifiable experience
- Target must have all documentation on file at all times
Carrier applications are denied without exception with any of the following assessments:

Back Solicitation

Hijacked Load

In-Transit Agreement Modification

Re-brokered Freight without permission

Excessive reports of….

No show
-
Truck cancelled after accepting a load

Incorrect equipment provided

Claims
-
Must have a minimum on-time percentage of 90% or higher

Drivers must be accessible 24/7 for communication from Dispatch

Once becoming a Target certified carrier, the preceding standards must be maintained.
Produce/Temperature Controlled/Frozen Freight
- Two years minimum verifiable experience
- Trailer must be 2000 or newer – 53’ preferred
- Excessive claims
- Insurance certificate must show reefer breakdown coverage with all exclusions listed
